Google Search Dark Mode Android

Kaktus.net Google Search Dark Mode Android – Your online searches are about to get dark! Earlier this month, reports hinted that Chrome was working on bringing dark mode to Google Search result pages.

Google Chrome’s Android app got the dark mode feature almost a year back. The feature turns almost all of the app’s interface dark including various tabs. However, what the dark mode feature doesn’t do is turn the search result pages dark.

This stands in sharp contrast to the app’s overall dark interface and is a bit straining to the eyes. Now, Chrome is planning to change this by turning the result pages dark.

Dark mode for Search in Chrome’s Android-based app is still in the development phase. However, as per a report by 9To5 Google there are two workarounds using which users can enable this feature on their Android smartphones.

If you want to try out this feature, here’s what you need to do to enable Google Search Dark Mode Android

Method 1

The first method is simple to implement. All you have to type “&cs=1” at the end of a Search URL and you are good to go. For example: https://www.google.com/search?q=Hindustan%20Times&cs=1.

Method 2

This method is slightly trickier and it involves a bunch of steps. Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Download either Chrome Canary or Chrome Dev from the Play Store.

Step 2: Go to chrome://flags page.

Step 3: Next search for “Show darkened search pages on Android” and enable it.

Step 4: Relaunch the browser and you are good to go!

Google will deploy updates for the Google Search app specifically for Android 10, iOS 12 and iOS 13. By default, the app will follow your phone’s entire system settings.

So, if your iOS or Android device is set to dark mode, by default the Google Search dark mode feature will appear, as summarized from PhoneArena, Wednesday (20/5).

However, you can also set it manually. This is useful if you prefer the usual light look to dark mode.

You can change it by going to the application settings to make adjustments. On Android 10 or iOS 12/13, you can open the Google Search app and tap the ‘Three dots More’ tab at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Next, tap Settings> General, then scroll down to Theme and change the settings. However, this change will not affect your system settings, only applies to Google Search.

So far, the search engine giant’s update may not be available to all users. Google said it will roll out an update for the rest of this week.

In addition to the user’s health, dark mode also has benefits for cellphones. Dark mode helps extend battery life a bit on AMOLED display phones. The reason is, the AMOLED screen makes black by turning off the pixels in the appropriate location. The pixels that are turned off don’t use up the phone battery. So the blacker the screen, the less energy the phone uses. So far the update may not have been received by all users. Google said it will roll out an update for the rest of this week.
