Genshin Impact Maintenance Server Failed To Check Update Solutions [2020]

genshin impact maintenance server

Genshin Impact Maintenance – Sensation Genshin Impact is always online, so you can’t play it if there are any connectivity issues or any kind of server maintenance. If you’re encountering that error the week of October 22, however, it may just be server maintenance.

On Tuesday, an official blog post from developer miHoYo confirmed that Genshin Impact would be undergoing a lengthy period of maintenance on October 22, 2020. But what is the maintenance for? And just how long will it last?

The blog post confirms the maintenance will START AROUND 3 A.M. ET ON OCTOBER 22, 2020 AND END AROUND 7 A.M. ET.

The miHoYo blog post does note that precise times may vary and that players may “experience disruption outside of those period.” If players have any measure of concern about losing game progress or having connectivity issues, it’s probably best to wait until the early afternoon when things are clear.

There’s a line in the blog post suggesting that players schedule their game time accordingly so as “to avoid losing your progress.” Therefore, it’s possible that if you’re logged in and playing when the update begins, then it may cause problems with your data.

After the update is complete, PC players will be able to manually select “Update” from the game launcher and then restart the game to complete the update. On other platforms, a traditional game restart should initiate the download. The download may take quite some time if the update proves to be significant in size and scope.

While we don’t specifically know what the update will fix, it may be related to known bugs and various server issues like the infamous Error Code 4206.

“To bring you the best-possible Genshin Impact experience and fix some known issues, the developers will soon perform version update maintenance, during which the servers will be down,” the post reads. “While the update maintenance is in progress, Travelers will be unable to log in to the game.”

It sure sounds like the update is related to server maintenance, considering it will revoke access to the game entirely for 4 hours or more. For what it’s worth, this sort of maintenance is fairly common in live service games like Fortnite or Destiny 2.

The way Genshin Impact’s online functionality works is quite different from those games, but because it requires a constant online connection to the game’s servers, it makes sense that maintenance would play out in a fairly similar way.

A reward, you say? That’s right. Developer miHoYo is offering “Compensation” to any players who are Adventure Rank 5 or above when the maintenance begins.

All players who meet the requirements will receive 60 Primogems for every hour of maintenance, so right now that’s 240 Primogems. However, if the update runs longer, that number could increase.

While the October 22 maintenance seems significant in scope to some extent, it will NOT be the full version 1.11 update. Developer miHoYo has previously revealed that the 1.1 update is scheduled for November 11.

For a game where you accrue new party members through “Wishes,” the fortuitous nature of adding the version 1.1 update on 11/11 seems deliberate. So it stands to reason that this October update is something entirely different.

Still, it’s likely that it’ll lay some of the groundwork for future updates like the major one due for November.

Servers Down for Update Maintenance on 10/22

Dear Travelers,

To bring you the best-possible Genshin Impact experience and fix some known issues, the developers will soon perform version update maintenance, during which the servers will be down. While the update maintenance is in progress, Travelers will be unable to log in to the game. Please take note of the update time and schedule your game time accordingly to avoid losing your progress. We hope Travelers will bear with us during the disruption.

〓Update Time〓
2020/10/22 07:00 – 2020/10/22 11:00 (UTC+8)
(Precise times are subject to change. Players may also experience disruption outside of this period.)

〓How to Update Game〓
PC: After update maintenance is finished, re-open the launcher and click Update. After downloading the game resources, restart the game and update the game resources to continue playing.
iOS/Android/PS4: After update maintenance is finished, restart the game and update the game resources to continue playing.
(We recommend you connect to Wi-Fi when updating the game.)

Primogems ×240
(We will give a compensation of 60 Primogems for each hour the servers are down. If servers go back online sooner than scheduled, we will still give out the full compensation above.)

All Travelers at Adventure Rank 5 or above as of 2020/10/22 07:00.
Our developers will distribute compensation to Travelers via in-game mail within 5 hours after the update maintenance is finished. Please go online to receive your mail before 2020/10/25 11:00. The mail will expire after 30 days, so don’t forget to claim the attached compensation in time.

Usually, when a video game goes down by accident, developers respond by gifting users something to make up for lost time. It’s a little more unusual to get a reward for regularly-scheduled maintenance, though.

Genshin Impact servers will be temporarily inaccessible later this week, during which developer Mihoyo will address some “known issues” according to a news post on the official website. The developer’s planned maintenance will start at 7 p.m EDT on Oct. 21, and is estimated to last around four hours.

For every hour of downtime, however, all Genshin Impact players will receive 60 Primogems, a currency that can be used to make Wishes to gain new characters and weapons.

If the maintenance ends sooner than expected, Mihoyo says it will still give all players a minimum of 240 Primogems. It’s not much, but it should be enough for at least one pull. You also literally don’t have to do anything to get it, other than being at least Adventure Rank 5 and checking your mail within 30 days before it expires.

uch an approach is typical for gacha games, where stamina is determined by the passage of real-world time — scheduled maintenance, in those cases, interferes with base mechanics.

But Mihoyo also regularly gives out a handful of Primogems when the developer fixes certain bugs — I’ve logged in many a time to claim a small Primogem reward over an issue that I never personally experienced. While I’m not swimming in Primogems because of this generosity, it still rules to get a small gift for just existing in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact recently updated to include a new bomb-throwing character named Klee, who will be available until Nov. 11.
